Raymond
Savage Jr.
Former NFL draft pick, UVA All-American, entrepreneur, mentor, and Hampton Roads community leader dedicated to expanding opportunity for the next generation.
For more than three decades, Raymond Savage Jr. has built his life around a clear conviction: preparation creates opportunity.
From earning All-America honors at the University of Virginia and competing professionally to building successful businesses and investing in families throughout Hampton Roads, Ray has used each chapter of his career to help others move forward.
Today, that commitment continues through Savage Sports Community Development Corp., where mentorship, practical resources, and community partnerships help children step into school, sports, and life with greater confidence.
A Legacy Built Through Discipline and Leadership
More Than a Game.
A Foundation for a Life of Service.
At the University of Virginia, Raymond Savage Jr. established himself as one of the most accomplished defensive players of his era.
A four-year starter at defensive end and outside linebacker, Ray earned Kodak First-Team All-America honors in 1989 and helped lead the Cavaliers to a school-record 10 victories, a share of Virginia’s first ACC football championship, and an appearance in the Florida Citrus Bowl.
He completed his UVA career with 302 tackles, ranking fourth in program history at the time. His lasting impact was later recognized when Virginia retired his No. 56 jersey.
Ray was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 1990 NFL Draft and continued his professional career with the Montreal Machine.
The qualities that defined Ray as an athlete—intensity, resilience, accountability, and teamwork—became the foundation for his leadership in business, mentorship, and community service.
Football was not the end of his story. It was where he learned how to lead, protect, and invest in others.

A Legacy Still in Motion
The Work Continues
Through Others.
Ray’s legacy is not measured only by games played, honors earned, or businesses built.
It is measured by the young people who receive support. The families who feel seen. The students who walk into school prepared. The athletes who discover what discipline can make possible.
Through Savage Sports Community Development Corp., Ray continues to invest in the community that helped shape him—removing barriers, creating opportunities, and helping young people recognize what they are capable of becoming.
Because the work was never simply about what Ray could accomplish.
It is about what the next generation can.
My goal has always been to help young people understand that anything is possible when you prepare, stay disciplined, and never give up.
